Safety in the water is our top priority.

At SW!MM ACADEMY, children and adults first learn to truly feel comfortable and safe in the water.

In small groups and with certified coaches, we guide you step by step on your journey into the water.

Instead of traditional breaststroke, we follow a modern, international approach:

Backstroke first.

This leads to faster real success experiences – for both children and adults.

Only once you can float safely and move confidently in the water, we gradually introduce the other swimming styles.

WE FLOAT WITH YOU.

Because safe floating is the foundation for everything – and in an emergency, it can save lives.

First FLOAT – then SW!MM.

Why backstroke first?

Did you know that Germany is one of the few countries where children
are taught breaststroke first?

Yet the leg kick is one of the most complex movements –
and often difficult for children to coordinate.

No wonder many struggle with it.

In most other countries, the approach is different:
children start with diving exercises, playful movement in the water –
or directly with backstroke.

The key to all of this is learning how to float safely.

In a back position, children can stabilize themselves at any time, breathe and relax.

And that’s what makes the difference:

Progress is significantly faster.

Many children are already able to move safely through the water
after just 4–5 sessions.

Around 75% of beginners remain stable in the water by the end of the course –
compared to only about 50% with the traditional breaststroke approach.

Even the German Swimming Federation now recommends this method.

And that’s exactly how we do it at SW!MM Academy.

Über uns

Our mission:
Safety in the water

Around 600.000 children in Germany are unable to swim.

Nearly 2 million feel unsafe in the water.

A clear mission: to rethink how swimming is taught.

In 2024, Daniel Hantschel founded SW!MM ACADEMY
with the goal of making swimming safer, more understandable
and more human.

At the heart of our approach is building trust:
step by step, tailored to each individual child.

With “swimming lessons made for kids” and the SW!MM FLOAT STAR,
children learn to truly feel safe in the water.

And because water safety is not a question of age,
we also support adults – whether they are just starting, overcoming fears,
or working on improving their technique.

Behind SW!MM ACADEMY is decades of experience in the water –
combined with a solid, modern coaching education.

Daniel has been swimming for over 40 years,
is a certified swim coach with the German Swimming Federation (DSV),
and has many years of experience as a lifeguard.

Together with a team of qualified coaches,
this creates training that doesn’t just teach safety –
but makes it truly tangible.

SW!MM ACADEMY stands for safety in the water. From the very beginning.

Sabine P. - Mother

We had a brief scare at the pool during our holiday.
Since then, we’ve realized how important it is for children to be able to keep themselves safe in the water.

Julian S. - Early Childhood educator

Water safety should be a given.
Children should learn early how to help themselves.

Matthias B. - Recreational swimmer

Today, I feel much safer and more in control in the water.
